About the Department


The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is committed to promoting mental health through excellence in patient care, medical education, and research. The department provides comprehensive assessment and treatment for a wide range of psychiatric, psychological, and behavioral disorders across all age groups. It equips medical students with the knowledge and clinical skills needed to recognize, diagnose, and manage mental health conditions with compassion and professionalism. Clinical training includes outpatient services, inpatient care, emergency psychiatry, and community mental health exposure. The department encourages evidence-based practice, ethical decision-making, and interdisciplinary collaboration in mental healthcare. Its mission is to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness while improving the overall well-being and quality of life of individuals and communities.
